Obituary of Frank Granger
Frank Harris Granger, 74, of Tigard, Oregon, passed away on May 10, 2023, following a long illness.
Frank was born on January 18, 1949, in Spokane, Washington, to parents Frank Sr, and Omarruth Granger. Frank had an older sister, Judith.
Following four years in the US Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971, where he excelled in rescue operations, Frank attended Gonzaga University and later helped out his father in the family business, a beer distributorship in the Tricity area of Washington. Frank met and married his wife Pamela and the couple had two sons, David William and Jesse Frank.
Frank subsequently left the family business and moved to Oregon. He worked for Chemeketa Community College before becoming employed by the Oregon Employment Department in North Portland, where he helped local residents and at risk youth find work. Frank was known for his technical skills and computer prowess and kept the office running whenever problems occurred. Frank retired from the State of Oregon in 2013, and especially enjoyed traveling and hiking in his retirement years.
In addition to being very proud of his work in the Coast Guard, Frank was also proud of his prominent and extensive family history, which began during the Revolutionary War and continued into the twentieth century. His grandfather is credited with irrigating the Yakima Valley, turning desert land into productive farmland that remains so today. Among his ancestors were the first Indian Agent of the US and the second Post Master General of the US. The family homestead, built in 1825 in upstate New York is now a museum.
Frank is predeceased by his sister Judith and son, Jesse Frank. He is survived by his son David and long-time partner, Linda DeLucia.
