Joseph Berny Shaw
Joseph Berny Shaw passed away in the comfort of his home on November 28, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on May 18, 1956 in Seattle Washington. He moved to Oregon where he resided most of his life. He was a Veteran where he served our country as a Marine. He was an entrepreneur and a respected Portland businessman for over twenty five years. His passions included fishing, gardening, cooking and spending quality time raising his only son, Trevor. Joe is survived by his loving and caring wife of thirty years, Lori (Ronson) Shaw, his son Trevor Joseph Shaw, his four brothers, Gordon Shaw and wife Kami, Gilliad Shaw and wife Dianne, William Richard Martin, Christopher Martin and his black lab, Marley. He is also survived by his step-mom Joyce Shaw, mother-in-law, Gayle Ronson along with his many brother and sister in-laws, uncles, nephews, nieces and loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his dad, Joseph Shaw, his mom Charlotte Martin and his step-dad Bill Martin. Joe lived life to the fullest. He was an active father in Trevor’s life where he enjoyed their involvement together in the Boy Scouts, sports, camping, fishing and eventually a business partnership. He loved taking friends and family fishing for Sturgeon, Salmon and Kokanee. He loved sharing his vegetables he grew in his garden and trying new recipes in the kitchen. Joe had many fine qualities. They included being kind, caring and very giving. He also liked sharing his wisdom while offering his support whenever needed. He use to say when asked, “how are you doing?” he would always reply with “happier than a tick on a hound dog.” He was always an easy going guy with a great outlook on life. Up until his passing, his attitude and strength never changed. He fought hard until the end and showed his family and friends what a true “Warrior” he was. He will be missed by so many who cared so deeply for him. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joe’s honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Services will be held on December 11, 2018 at noon at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon 97086.
