QPR for Suicide Prevention Training

November 13, 2019
9 AM

Join us for free QPR training at Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes at 11667 SE Stevens Road, Happy Valley, OR 97086.

Did you know suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States and Oregon has the 14th highest death by suicide rate in the country? Middle-aged adults are at the highest risk of death by suicide with seniors age 85 and older having the highest rate of death by suicide in Oregon. You can help!

QPR is a proven, 2 hour educational program that teaches participants how to recognize that an adult or young person may be experiencing thoughts of suicide and offer first aid until more experienced help is available. QPR has been widely used by law enforcement, the military and schools in their training programs.

Participants will learn about: the prevalence of suicide in our community, recognizing warning signs of suicide, asking about thoughts of suicide, persuading an adult, young person or older adult to seek help, and resources that can provide help.

This training is free of charge and being offered by the Behavioral Health Team with Clackamas County.

Death + Portland is a conversation series with a goal of demystifying topics about death.

The goal of this series is to offer a forum for conversation, discussion, information, and education regarding topics related to death.

This is NOT a grief support group. It is a safe environment for likeminded people to discuss topics related to death while eliminating the stigma that comes with having those conversations.

This event takes place every 3rd Wednesday of the month starting November 20, 2019.

To RSVP, contact Krystina.shattles@sunnysidechimes.com.
